The ingenuity he showed in his small workshop led to the creation of the first sawing machine, which proved so efficient that it was
soon being ordered by small companies working in neighbouring towns. The business really began to expand when Enzo invited his son Ezio, still a young man, to join him.
Ezio, supported on the organisation side by Giampaolo Garattoni, another new partner, began boosting sales and also took over the technical development of products and processes, becoming a key figure for all involved.
Unfortunately, Enzo Magnani passed away at the age of only 52, and never saw the many future achievements of the company he had started.
His death was untimely indeed because the company was just beginning its journey down a road that would see it expand from a local business to a major global competitor, acquiring and forming various other companies to create the MEP Group.
the fundamental stages
1964
MEP was born in Pergola (PU) in 1964, when its founder Enzo Magnani developed the first fast abrasive circular sawing machine, called TV 300, in his small workshop. This was a real entrepreneurial intuition, so much that in the same year MEP, an acronym for Magnani Enzo Pergola, was founded.

the 1970s
The '70s marked the birth of MEP Spa, which assumed the current structure of Joint Stock Company, and the introduction into the market of the first semi-automatic models, such as the TRL 300 P.

the 1980s
In the '80s, MEP technology developed progressively in the mechanical and electronic fields thanks to the creation of the first automatic machines allowing the automatic progress of the bar.

the 1990s
The real MEP turning point occurred in the '90s, when the band sawing machines were manufactured and marketed, thus completing the range of MEP sawing machines.

the 2000s
In the 2000s, this gradual but constant evolution led to the passage of MEP from "local" company to "global" competitor following the acquisition of the Company by a private equity fund linked to Aksia Group SGR, which significantly contributed to the internationalization of the Company and the creation of MEP Group.

2007
In 2007, after several years of profitable collaboration on the North American market, MEP finally acquired full control of the Canadian HYDMECH in order to satisfy even the more and more numerous requests for larger and performing sawing machines for working larger solid bars.

2008
In 2008, after five years of experience on the local market through the participation in a Joint Venture, MEP SUZHOU was founded in China, around 80 km (50 mi) west of Shanghai. This company is entirely controlled by MEP and oversees the world’s largest production market.

2012
In 2012, MEP DO BRASIL joined the MEP GROUP: it is a sales and technical assistance Company that allowed the MEP brand to enter the Brazilian market in order to take advantage of it and consolidate its presence in South America.

2019
In 2019 MEP GROUP became one of the 5 GROUPE LEGRIS INDUSTRIES divisions.

nowadays MEP Group has production plants in Italy, Canada, USA and china
where machines are manufactured and then distributed in more than 60 countries. These machines are able to satisfy all the needs of a wide range of customers.
